What is an approved provider?

In the Gold Coast child care sector, an approved provider is a service that holds formal registration under the Education and Care Services National Law. This means the provider operates a centre-based or family day care service that complies with national quality and safety standards set by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

Approved provider status is necessary for families to access the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), a government rebate that helps cover fees. Without this approval, a service cannot process CCS claims, which significantly limits its appeal to most families on the Gold Coast.

To maintain approved provider status, services must meet ongoing requirements including staff qualifications, staff-to-child ratios, physical safety standards, and participation in the National Quality Framework. Services are assessed against the National Quality Standard, which covers ten quality areas ranging from educational programming to health and safety.
