What is the National Quality Framework?

The National Quality Framework sets out the legal requirements, quality standards and assessment processes that all education and care services must follow across Australia. It applies to long day care centres, family day care, preschool, and outside school hours care, making it the baseline governing system for child care agencies operating on the Gold Coast and elsewhere.

The NQF contains several key elements. The National Law establishes legal obligations for educators and services. Services are assessed against these standards by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and state and territory regulatory bodies. Each service receives a quality rating of Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, or Needs Improvement based on compliance and educational outcomes.
